Dear Parents/Guardians:

Wishing all of you a wonderful summer!  Thank you to the families that have offered to watch over and water our garden this summer. Please visit often.

We have many staff members leaving this year and many new staff members joining us.  It will be a year of change, but change is inevitable and all we can do is embrace it with an open mind and an open heart.

As we say good-bye to the following people we recognise the great work that was done over a year or 35 years.  Know we are most grateful for your contribution to Marlborough school and our community.  We are thankful for your time, expertise and the difference you have made in the lives of our students and staff members.

A special good-bye and thank you to Ms. S. Malkin – Ms. Malkin is retiring after 35 years in the education system in British Columbia:  five years in Maple Ridge and thirty years in Burnaby.  Ms. Malkin is known for her excellence in art and cursive writing.  She expects the very best from her students in all subject areas and will be remembered for her many skills and talents. Highlights to note:  organisation of the Gallery Walk every second year, the brilliant Science and Social Studies research projects her students produce, for her ability to challenge each and every student at their level to ensure success, for her wicked sense of humour and for her kind and compassionate way with students.  We wish you the very best Ms. Malkin! Enjoy your well-deserved retirement.

I will leave it to Ms. Floyd, Principal and Ms. Rawnsley, Vice-Principal to announce all of the new staff members coming to Marlborough for the 2017/2018 school year.

Thank you to each one of you for making my stay here at Marlborough for the past 3 ½ years a most enjoyable one.  I have been an educator in Burnaby and Prince Rupert for a total of 31 years.  I have loved my career as an educator. Best wishes to each and every one of you.

Be safe.  Learn as much as you can.  And have fun, lots of fun!

Best wishes,

Mrs. Shelley Parks
